Travel safely with Wellness Pharmacy
We offer personalised consultations to help you decide exactly what travel vaccinations you need for your destination. Whether travelling for pleasure or business, we can provide professional travel advice and vaccination advice based on your plans. This ensures that you and your family are fully covered with the right vaccinations to give you peace of mind before your trip.
You can book online or call us to book an appointment with a pharmacist. We suggest that you call before your appointment so we can discuss your travel plans with you to make the in-person appointment more efficient. You should give yourself plenty of time before your trip to have your vaccinations. We recommend booking 6-12 weeks before your departure date. This gives the vaccinations enough time to become fully effective. You can still book an appointment at our travel clinic in Cardiff if your trip is within 6 weeks.

Do I need travel vaccinations?
Travel vaccines are essential when planning your trip. When travelling to countries abroad, your body can encounter new viruses or bacteria that it hasn’t encountered before. This means that you have no natural immunity to these microbes and they can make you severely unwell.
Some examples of these illnesses are Hepatitis, Cholera, and Yellow Fever. They can range from mild to life-threatening. This means that getting the right vaccination for the country you’re going to is extremely important to ensure you remain healthy on your travels.
Travel vaccinations work by teaching your immune system how to defend itself against these bacteria and viruses. Once your immune system knows how to defend itself, it can often mean lifelong protection against those specific diseases. You can get your travel vaccinations in Cardiff at our expert clinic.

FAQ
Where are you based?
Our travel clinic is in St Mellons which is in East Cardiff. We are close to the A48 which makes us easy to get to from Heath, Rhiwbina and Whitchurch. As we’re based on Newport Road, travelling from Canton, Cardiff Bay and the town centre is easy. Regular buses are available from areas like Roath and Penylan. We also have car parking spaces available right outside the clinic. If you’re looking for travel vaccines in Newport – we’re very accessible from Margam or the M4.
How much are travel vaccines in Cardiff?
You can see the cost of our vaccines in the table above. Some vaccines will need 2 or 3 doses (sometimes there will be 6 months between doses) and other vaccines only need 1 dose. Prices range from £40 per dose to £200 per dose. We can work out the total cost for you at your first appointment when we know exactly what vaccines and how many doses you will need.

Our clinic is appointment based. You can use our booking page to book an initial consultation which can either be face-to-face or over the telephone. We can then book you in for the vaccination at a day and time that suits you. If you want a same-day vaccine in Cardiff, please call us to discuss.
Do you offer same-day travel vaccines in Cardiff?
If you need a vaccine immediately, please call us to discuss on 02920 777 026. We can usually offer vaccines very quickly but it’s important that we have an initial discussion. If we can’t do the same day, we can usually offer appointments for the following day.
How soon before travel should I get vaccinated?
Each vaccine is different so it depends which vaccine(s) you need. For example, the Typhoid vaccine should be given at least 3 weeks before you travel but the first Rabies vaccine often needs to be given at least 4 weeks before you travel. At your first appointment, we can help you work out the best schedule based on your needs, destination, and medical history. Ideally, get in touch with us 6-12 weeks before you intend to travel.
